    How much of the syllabus should be covered these holidays?

    Lol perhaps those subjects aren't easy for EVERYONE??? I did Music 1, but had to practice a few hours a day (Mainly because I enjoyed it though, not for hsc :P). No matter what subject, even if its gen maths, you'll still have to study.

    Sometimes 30~40% may be an "accomplishment" to those who are less academic (I.e very sporty, etc). People have different strengths and weaknesses mate. I don't think the point of motivation, is not to depress/humiliate those in front of the year in order to push them to study?

    If you are expecting it to be School certificate standard.. think again. Its a lot harder than that, but not impossible.

    Easy for you to say, when you are aiming for 99.2 Think about if you were the one getting marks from 30~40%... :/

    Nah I think the main factor of motivation for me was the 4 months, 1 week holiday at the end of the race. I did not do very well in school, year 7-11 (we are talking ranking 130-140 out of 183 kids) After the end of the first term of year 12(only weighted about 5-10%), I looked at my marks...

    I got an ATAR estimate of high 80s and I needed 95.. Once I found that out, I studied like crazy (This was just before trials) .. Got 95.50 in the end so happy :).
