Out of these two "qualifications" which is more highly likelly to INVESTMENT BANKING.

Re: Investment banker vs Accountant Hey, on Sundays and Mondays you might be able to fit 8 hours since you don't need to be at the office the whole day on Sunday

Re: Investment banker vs Accountant You'll mostly get an average of 6 hours a day if you are disciplined enough not to waste time and live not too far away from office. Wake up 7am, get to office 7.45am. Work till midnight, head home, shower etc then wake up at 7am again. You'll fit 6 hours...

Re: Out of these two "qualifications" which is more highly likelly to INVESTMENT BANK Just realised how many of these investment banking threads there are lol.. GFC definitely brought this industry to light. Comm/Law is better if you don't let Law drag your marks down too much. Not to...

Re: Investment banker vs Accountant I think that's quite fair and expected as part of your professionalism and dedication to your work and firm. This applies everywhere, not just in professional services.

Re: Investment banker vs Accountant I struggle to think of any profession which you can just take a week off for no reason. We're not talking about taking annual leave of course.

    BCom/BA orrrrr BCom(International) at UNSW??

Not worth it to do Comm(Int) IMO. You can take on languages with BComm and also go on exchange, even for 2 semesters. Not worth ripping your WAM with language courses. Not enough companies understand the concept of Comm(Internationa) anyway.

Re: Investment banker vs Accountant Very often you are expected to drop in on Sundays but not the full day. Just to wrap up on some unfinished or urgent business. In terms of hours, 80+ hours sounds about right. Depends on time of the year and if there are live deals going on. You can pull...

CA Program - Ask questions, get answers! (new and improved)

CFA is more important. Especially if you want out of Accounting and into Finance. Neither CA nor CFA is that useful in MC unless you specialise. PS. Congrats on CF. Highly desired among Big 4 applicants I reckon.

    Work experience vs Honours IB

I'm not sure if it's THAT competitive to do Finance honours. You have a decent shot at it with a D average from what I heard. With a low-mid 80s WAM, you should get in Finance honours quite easily. PS. Long time no see Namu. I still remember you from my HSC days posting on these forums lol..

Best US Business Schools for Exchange?

I went through the whole process. Wharton wants WAM often no less than 85. Stern around 78. UC Berkeley is theoretically better than Stern but the process of applying to any UC campus is a bit strange. You apply to UC, get nominated to UC and then apply for 3 UC campus to be allocated at their...

    QMA (ECON1202) Textbook for Sale

Now known as Quantitative Analysis for Business and Economics (QABE). What an ungraceful name.

Free options vs. Gen ed courses

I don't think non-core courses are any easier than core ones. Unless you mean "if you fail, it's not lethal" kinda way.

Need help enrolling in B. Economics

I struggled more with QMB than QMA. But that's not a fixed thing, some people liked QMB more, some liked QMA more. Overall, I did well in both courses and yeah no reason you do some random course in your first sem because you think they'll be too hard. Just keep on top of the work. P.S I was...

Need help enrolling in B. Economics

Why not do QMA and QMB in the same sem? QMA is out of commerce core this year so they are changing some course content and it won't be any problem doing both of them together. I didn't find much overlap in QMA/QMB when I did them.

For those majors, no. For your core courses, 2U Maths may be assumed knowledge.

In my first sem, I wanted tutes to come after lectures, but I realised it doesn't matter.

    Dilemma: MACQ or USYD

Really, if you want to do Law, MQ is a very good choice. If you are not that keen on doing Law, and wish to go to USyd, then do that. It just depends if you want to do Law or not.
