    Comm/Law - Quant Methods

That's interesting. The UNSW Handbook should be right but I don't remember the Commerce cores to be any different even if the person is doing combined degrees. The Handbook may be outdated. Email the ASB Student Center but I know they are flooded with emails atm.

    Comm/Law - Quant Methods

That's weird. Are you sure you are looking at the 2010 Hanbook? Only QMB is core for you unless you are doing Economics major.

    First year Commerce (international) students

Weird how you were allowed to get on 6 courses on myUNSW, usually they won't allow anymore after full 24 UOC (4 courses). You are now on the right track with 4 core courses.

Is it easier to get a high GPA at UWS than other unis such as UNSW and USYD?

Probably. They consider the institution you are applying from. No one can tell me a GPA of 6 is equally hard/easy in Harvard and USyd.

Is it easier to get a high GPA at UWS than other unis such as UNSW and USYD?

Err.. sounds to me that system means it is indeed easier to get a high WAM/GPA at UWS. Certain precentage of HDs, Ds, Cs... and the cohort...

    I'm basically completely lost

For Comm, yes do your core ones early. There are 4 cores so that should fit into all your Sem 1 subjects if you decide to do a pure Comm semester. For Adv Maths component, you can always do some maths/sci first year subjects in your first sem. Bachelor of Science (Advanced Mathematics)...

i was pretty stupid: can i get some advice?

No way to do that I'm afraid. I only enroled with a late offer but my timetable didnt turn out too bad at all.

    Comm/Law - Quant Methods

You can check that from UNSW Handbook, if a course is offered in both semesters, check the Class Timetable. QMA and QMB should be offered in both semesters, but with more QMA classes in Sem 1 and more QMB classes in Sem 2. With the new core system, QMB may be offered more overall. QMA/QMB are...

    Comm/Law - Quant Methods

QMA is more interesting (for me at least). It is core course for a major in Economics. So if you're doing Eco major, you have to do it. If you want to do it purely as an elective, it's not that hard to do well but quite some people do poorly in it. In 2010, they are changing the content of QMA...

    Comm/Law - Quant Methods

QMB is the core subject while QMA is just an elective. You chose the right course.

i was pretty stupid: can i get some advice?

The Late Round cut-off is often higher than the Main Round. Not sure about USyd Bonus Points system but for UNSW, HSCPlus also applies for Late Round. So whatever bonus points you got, it still applies for Late Round. You're welcome matt.

i was pretty stupid: can i get some advice?

Usually there will be offers in Late Round. I regretted my Main Round preferences too and had to change it for Late Round and did get it eventually. With a competitive ATAR like yours, you may have quite a decent chance. I believe you can find a pdf document with previous years' Late Round...

Which subs to choose for 1st year commerce?

Essentially 3 core courses and 1 more course, hopefully to your majors, such as FINS1612, FINS1613.

Accounting Financial 1a - tips for the final exam anyone?

That is normal. Know your accounts, journal entries, ledgers, format of financial statements etc. Know them off by heart.

    Best uni for MBBS

Not quite true. An Associate Professor (for Bio I think) at Johns Hopkins told me the uni is 2nd to Harvard for medicine.

    HSC plus problem :(

HSCPlus does not apply to a number of courses such as Law, Medicine and Commerce (International). It does not add to your ATAR, it just reduces the cut-off.

Who put Pharmacy @ USYD for their first prefrence?

Haha good try but you're not gonna get an idea of your competition with this :p

    too many international students

They do. Peking University and Tsinghua University are both top notch. Now don't go off referring to that THES ranking, which also ranked Stanford and Berkeley at astonishing places.

    Commerce (International)

I don't think this degree is considered a double degree. Correct me if I'm wrong.
