    Post grad med application/gpa Q

Hey You need to calculate your GPA. When you apply for Medicine, after you've sat GAMSAT etc, your GPA needs to be at least 5.5 (credit average). If it is above that, your GAMSAT mark will determine whether you get offered an interview. After your interview, they take 50% intervew mark/50%...

How can I distinguish between polar molecule and non-polar molecule

A polar bond exists between two atoms in which one atom has a larger electronegativity. As a result, electrons will spend more time around that atom and will make that end of the atom partially negative. The molecule is said to have a 'dipole moment' and this will make the molecule, as a whole...

    Question abt marks

If it's a GPA your average will be a credit because GPA doesn't take into consideration your mark. For a credit, regardless of the mark, you get a GPA of 5/7 and if you got 4 credits then your GPA is (5 + 5 + 5 + 5)/4 = 5. If it's a WAM your average will be closer to a distinction because it...

    Med Science Question

Heaps of people in Med Sci haven't done physics but I'd say at least half did chemistry and around the same for biology. First year at uni can be pretty much like the HSC subjects if you want it to be.

    degree with merit?

Some degrees like Law are awarded with Honours Class I, II etc based on performance and not on further study. Thats about as much as I know.

    Significance of GPA

Generally speaking, the top 1.5% of the HSC cohort don't get 98.5 UAI for e.g. in 2007 something like the top 1.6% got 99 UAI and over. UAI and percentiles don't exactly correlate.

    Reasons for taking advanced units

Yea they do lol I've learnt they scale like shit though (the hard way). If you want to go really really good, only pick advanced if you're in the top 5 of the cohort. Otherwise, stick with the normal units and rape it.

Med Science or Pharmacy plz help...

That's because HEAPS more med sci students apply than pharmacy students do. At the end of the day, you have to prioritize and make a decision. I had to make that same decision as you last year and I chose med science and so far it's going pretty good. Don't pick Pharmacy if it's just...
