When using co-sine rule to find and angle how do I know which numbers (lengths) on the triangle are a, b, c in the equation? I always get them mixed up by putting the wrong numbers with the wrong letter. Any help would be much appreciated :)

I was thinking of going for the cosmology distinction course but I think they are hard to get in to, so I think my chances are pretty slim. Quote from the cosmology site,

I'm currently in yr11 and had my first exams for the year (which i failed), my yearly exams are in a few weeks. If I manage to just pass the prelim course will I still be able to make up for itn yr12 to get a UAI of 80+ If I try hard enough? Because I underestimated yr11 and now its come back...
