just wondering if anybody else felt let down by their english marks? i got 70 and was disappointed because i had felt good coming out of the exam and expected higher! it seems the english marks (for advanced anyway) are quite a bit lower than last year overall. whats going on?!

what happens if you are ranked first and get a sh*t mark?

Final Comments:To Shakespeare et. al. (Farewell wishes-goodbye!)

Go and burn in hell Shakespeare, for the hours of misery you made me endure. you know the tempest actually bored me so much that i fell asleep when we had to read it in english. i am one of about 20 others who also fell asleep in those lessons. clearly that says something about the works of...

    Frontline

i totally agree. that was the most ridiculous question i have ever read on an english hsc paper. practically none of my quotes had any relevence and i found it very difficult to incorporate them. hated the question...it was stupid!

If English was't compulsory....Who would SERIOUSLY pick it????????? lol

I would definately choose english. It's boring at times and can be hard but I enjoy the challenge. Also, good english is a life skill, we all use it. The point of english is to develop our language skills and to exercise our imaginations to develop a broader understanding of life. Good spelling...

    Quality over Quantity

yeah i think 60 pages is ridiculous...there is no way you could write that much and make everything relevent without waffling, there is simply no need. it's just wasting time when you could be going over your sections and editing them to make them perfect. also, it must be frustrating for the...

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 2006

haha nah i think i few of my friends did that too...although i didnt refer back to the quote. hmm but the question didnt say you had to base your story on it, it just said to use it as your opening line. oh and i think i must be stupid for not knowing what a nomad is, nobody else seemed to...

General Thoughts: English Paper 1 2006

In section 2, I used the quote to open my story as instructed then i just wrote "I closed the book and put it on my desk." hahaha i totally got around basing my story on that quote, i hope that's allowed...i don't really care though, there is no rule saying you can't do that. Section 1 would...

Yeah I agree it went for faaaaar too long. I finished at least 30 mins early. I think the written exam was ok...I struggled a bit with the listening cos there was so much noise outside the classroom we did it in! Luckily the examiner took that into account, she wrote it down so hopefully the...
