The idea is to formulate your own definition of belonging so HSC markers can see a 'unique' and 'original' opinion. A good place to start is the dictionary, re-word various definitions, and take parts you like. Find quotes relating to belonging as they're likely to be personal and concise...

Title: The Road Author: Cormac McCarthy This book is brilliant for all levels of readers, the simple beauty is staggering! It's set in a post-apocalyptic environment; it will make you bleed.

In ext. 1, we're urged to use the simple vocab, the goal is a clear, arid style of writing. The continual use of complex words sounds/looks pedantic. But it isn't easy to structure simple words for impact.
