I am trying to find the sum for this, but since the series starts at n=2 the formula isn't giving me the correct result. I've tried doing S10 = (a(r^n-1))/r-1 since |r| > 1. However, I get the wrong result by a big margin. How do I evaluate questions such as this when the first term isn't 0 or 1?

I have a test coming up this Thursday and was wondering if I can get some questions to answer for a little practice. The test covers 2 prelim. topics, the quadratic function and locus/parabola and 2 HSC topics, probability and geometrical applications of calculus. Any questions appreciated. :)

Find the equation of the locus of a point that moves so its distance from the line 3x+4y+5=0 is always 4 units. What I gather from the question is, we need to use the distance formula (somehow) with that line, and make it equal to 4, but I am not sure.
