    MVT to prove inequalities

How do you use the MVT to prove inequalities where its x>a>0 instead of just x>0? Like when its x>0 you can just let b=x and a=0 in the MVT formula thingy but not sure what to do for this. Examples are Q 97b and 98a,c,d of the math 1151 calc booklet at unsw. Any help appreciated.

    Limit as x->2

How do you prove that the limit of (x-4)/(x-2) is 4, as x approaches 2? Full working please if possible!

    Assuming formulas

When given the differential eqn for newton's cooling Q's can you assume T=To+Ae^-k When told a particle moves in SHM can you assume a=-n^2x and v^2=n^2(a^2-x^2) ? Can you use cylindrical shells / volume by slices? (if I happen to get stuck and can't figure out how to do in the 3u way)...

What would happen if you use a superconducting iron core in a transformer

would a superconducting iron core reduce energy losses, or since current in a superconductor never dissipates would a huge amount of energy just end up being stored in the superconductor, instead of it dissipating as heat? Or would the current eventually build up to the point where the...

    Fermi's contribution the neutrino

in the 2005 hsc theres this question about how pauli and Fermi contributed to the neutrino and in the markers notes it says many didn't mention what Fermi did. Fermi simply stated that the so called neutral particle that Pauli suggested should be called a neutrino, so that it wasn't confused...

How do you indicate a change of narrator or time?

Eg: If you have a narrative structure that start on a particular date, then goes back in time, how would you indicate there's a change? Or, if you are speaking from a third person view at the start of a creative, and then want to switch to 1st person, is there a particular way to go about it? If...

Square rooting of asymptotes in curve sketching

If you have an obligue asymptote in a graph, say y=x, and you are graphing "y=square root f(x)", does the asymptote become y=rootx? Just asking cause I'm looking as solutions where they don't change the asymptote but that seems weird

    Phonons in cooper pairs

Do we need to know about phonons at all and if we do, do we just need to know that the lattice distortion emits energy particles phonons which connect the free electrons in cooper pairs?

    Conics HW help

E is ellipse where a=4,b=3 and centre (0,0) and P is the variable point (4costheta, 3sintheta). B and B' are the endpoints of the minor axis. The tangent at P meets the tangents at B and B' at C and C' respectively. Show that BC*B'C'=16. I'm making an error somewhere but can't find it.

    Absorbtion spectra

Can an atom only absorb a photon when the energy of the photo allows it to jump up the energy level. ie: if the incident photon has MORE energy than required, it will not be absorbed? Just curious cause the absorption spectra of hydrogen suggests that the photon must have the exact energy...

    Analysing visual texts

Does anyone know where I can find a comprehensive list of visual techniques and their effect. I only found out what vectors are today which has got me worried since I've realised that I've never properly been taught this stuff in school, oddly enough.

    Orbital speed problem

How do you do your past papers?

Just curious as to how everyone does it? Do you sit there for the full 3 hours, and actually do the 5 minutes reading time, or just go through trial papers like an exercise from a textbook? I try to do the former, but 3 hours straight everyday eventually becomes so hard to mentally endure :mad2:
