    dividing into equal groups

"How many ways can 21 people be divided into 3 equal groups?" Just wondering if the answer should be 21C7 14C7 7C7 or same but divided by 3!, seeing as I don't know if the groups are implied to be 'distinct' or not.

    Laters' Maths Help Thread

Hey guys, I don't come on here often but I've seen similar threads so I've decided to make one too :) For your reference I am doing MATH1151 this sem. 1) Find \lim_{x\rightarrow\infty} \sin\frac{1}{x} . I already know it's 0 but they want a solution using the pinching theorem.

    math1151 course pack

Hey guys, Do any of the actl kids on here know if the 2015/2016 packs will be different? i.e. if they do will they affect me in any way? Someone wants to sell me their pack for cheap. But idk if it's worth the RISK. Should I just buy the 2016 one?

    Is there a teaching glut?

I would very much appreciate if anyone could shed light on this issue? Stupidly enough I didn't apply for teach NSW scholarships/cadetships :( I've heard quite a lot about how there is a teaching glut in NSW where it has become difficult to find work, and those who do find work have little...

    Is this a valid approach?

Hi, in the 2007 HSC question 7 a) i) says "show that sin x < x for x > 0" The method I used I have seen many times before but not in this particular question, I said that for some u>0, cos u <= 1 using a graph and then integrated with borders 0 to x. Pretty simple. The reason I am asking this...

    simple uac question regarding preferences

Applications before or on 30/9/15 incur a processing fee of $32. After this date the cost is above $150. If I submit my application now, and would want to change my preference in october (or after), will I be able to do so without incurring the $1xx fee?

Single Comm Degree vs Actl+Comm Double Degree

Hey guys, I'm in year 12 and I've been looking at my options etc. I've narrowed my top preference to two options (at UNSW): (1) Actuarial studies/Commerce (thinking of a major in finance) - it sounds interesting. However I have read and heard of many different things about actuarial studies...

    Circle Geometry Question (Past HSC)

Hi, could someone please try the last part? I've basically given too much time to this question so it may just be that I missed something completely. The only thing I have done that might be of use after successfully completing parts i to iv was to prove that ZYOC was also cyclic. It's from the...

Intersection of Forward and Inverse Function

Hi, for some exam questions I have seen they might give an equation (say f(x)=e^x - 4) and ask why the x coordinate of any intersection points of f(x) and its inverse satisfy an equation (e^x - x - 4 = 0) which obviously requires you to equate f(x)=x. But in the textbook I have seen a...

    Probability Question

Hi, so I'm stuck on this question... There are 8 red, 9 green and 6 yellow cards in a pack of cards. Five cards are drawn. Find the probability of obtaining 2R, 3G if it is known that at least 1 card is green. My answer was (8C2 x 8C2)/(22C4) (I assumed one was already green) The solution...

    Limiting Sum

Hi, I have a question about conditions of the limiting sum formula S=\frac{a}{1-r} ... The condition is that |r|<1 but I'd just like to clarify whether r=0 should be included in this, because my teacher explained it as a literal limit i.e. your series will approach S but never actually...
