    Best history elective?

Burkhard was my tutor when I took the subject. He doesn't seem so bad, but as you said - fragmented and just rambles a lot. Can take all the interest out of the subject pretty quickly. Obviously, it could be the language barrier. But he should know that coming here, so if it is... too bad.

    Best history elective?

Twentieth Century Europe was quite good. The Middle Ages and Modern European History were both horrible (Modern European especially) because of the terrible lecturers. The lecturer for Modern European was not Dr. Moses, but a different female lecturer... can't remember her name, but it started...

    This may sound stupid...

Yet another science or law or medicine wanker who think they're so insanely more superior than arts students. It's getting old and boring. Yes, I'm an arts student. Doesn't make a difference. Unless of course you were kidding. Which it didn't look like.

    straight out B/A

Yeah, my friend is doing a B Socio-Legal Studies and he seems to enjoy it. Sounds a bit more relaxed than a full Bachelor of Arts/Laws to me.

what's so bad about Bachelor of International and global studies?

I hope that "I was too smart to do teaching" quote was something someone else said to you and not your opinion. To be fair, with the quote marks, it looks someone else did say that to you. Whoever DID say that has to be pretty narrow-minded. Some of my teachers were the smartest people I...

Picking up german for uni/relaxation purposes

Why don't you just study it at uni?

What do you hate about USyd

The stupid political organisations that spring up everywhere. I support freedom of speech, sure, and I know that most unis have ultra-left-wing parties and organisations and all that shit. That's fine, that's not what bothers me. What does is how they shove it in your face all the time - this...

ANHS1602 - Greek and Roman Myth

I did this subject last year ... overall, I found it to be pretty good. Basically, it's an overview of all the main Greek gods, heroes and all the other cool myths they had. It deals with how they became these gods, what powers they had, and stuff like what the heroes did (e.g. the tasks that...

Nice, hopefully exam free subject for second semester first year Arts student?

You could try ARCA1002 - Archaeology. You have two class tests (20% each) and the major assessment is on your workbook, which you do in practicals. It looks pretty interesting so far, although it is only week 2. But I'm sure by now you've already picked another subject ... but in case you...

    Deferring

This will, most probably, include a whole lot of stupid questions about deferring from uni which everyone else probably already knows but ... ah well. Anyway, I'm thinking of deferring once the semester finishes. What I wanted to ask was not whether it's the right thing to do, but more about...

History courses, focusing on military history

Ah ok ... wow, thanks for the information. It wasn't a particularly urgent thing - I was just looking for some courses that were more orientated towards military history, such as the events of WWI/WWII, Vietnam, etc. I didn't really explain that so well ... the experience of the soldiers is...

History courses, focusing on military history

I've just finished the HSC and am planning to start an arts degree at either UNSW of Sydney this year. I have a lot of interest in history, but one of my main areas of interest is military history - this not only involves studying wars and conflict, but also specific armies and what life was...

Accurate UAI Calculator (alternative to SAM)

This one gave me 86.45, which was the same as JUAI, while SAM gave me 87.35 ... so they're pretty close for me. Although I guess the scaling and etc. could be much different this year than the last couple of years ... :S

    Official HSC results.

Ancient History - 86 English Advanced - 83 Mathematics - 65 (hahaha, I hate maths) Modern History - 88 (so close .. ah well) History Extension - 40 Studies of Religion II - 85 Overall, I'm pretty happy with those results ... higher than I expected for a few (i.e. English and Ancient), although...

Yeah, I just rambled on about environmental ethics ... it just said describe, so I wrote down everything I could remember. Only managed about 6 pages though :-/. Hopefully I covered everything in enough detail.

    General commments

Overall, I thought the exam was alright. Some of my responses were a bit iffy (such as the ecumenism - forgot to mention the NCCA or NSW Ecumenical Council ... oh well). I don't think I went as well as I could have, but considering I only studied the day before and this morning, it was alright...

    The Crusades

I thought the question was alright, although the quote didn't really fit all that well. Not complaining though. I just talked about how Gibbon, Runciman and Jones said the Crusades were a way for the Church to expand their power/influence, etc. and contrasted this with how Madden and...

    Section IV - Historical Period

I dunno ... that question wasn't that good. It was too broad ... I mean, obviously if you did the topic you would know a lot about it but to get the top marks you would have to comprehensively include all reasons for the fall of the republic and etc., and that would take like 13 booklets. I did...

just came home after doing modern

The other question was on how useful Sources C and D would be for historians in relation to the changing attitudes of British and German soldiers during the war.
