yeah, so that's the question. Its off my finite maths textbook, let F be a field and a, b in F with ab = 0. Show that a = 0 or b = 0. Is it because, in a field, a x b will never equal zero, unless a = 0 or b = 0? But then that's the given statement.. aarrrrghhhhh!

Just wondering, are we able to assume: (or is this the definition) a = b (mod m) means a = km + b where k is an integer? It's for this question where I have to prove that: if a = b (mod m) then gcd(a, m) = gcd(b, m). Simple, but I've been skipping maths lectures ;)

Just out of some interest, how hard is university maths compared to high school maths? And if someone could tell me how hard the electives of UNSW maths is, especially for courses like software engineering (which im most likely to end up in)... Right now, this seemed to be the most perfect...

Hmm... Under my curiousity, i was wondering, under what conditions do you have to be under to travel to univeristies free (under public transport)? With that being said, for a citizen aged under 18 years old, would he/she be able to travel free under public transport? how about over18s...
