ok i think i at least worked out the 2nd part of q6 using the quadratic root formula x^2=..... and solving for discriminant >=0 two solutions are established either b>=2 or b<=-2 but using the quadratic formula again x=.... b>=2 doesnt make sense so b<=-2 i am not too confident with...

can some 1 explain why it is a hyperbola? i can see why |z+x+i|+|z-x-i|=a is an ellipse in the complex field, but i cant exactly see why this is a hyperbola?
