    Safety @ Redfern

A friend of mine was confronted by a gang of knife wielding aboriginal youths, like 9-15 years old, on the footbridge thing as your leaving the campus next to engineering. He managed to run away but they tried to take his phone and wallet. It was 6pm on a Friday night.

The Biomed course at Usyd has at least two hard biology subjects, so watch out! Look at the degree structures on the Usyd website for an idea of what you'll do, although there should be one on the UNSW site but idk. Mechatronics ftw. http://www.aeromech.usyd.edu.au/current/degree_structures.shtml

    Best Budget $500 Guitars

Hahaha yeah I go there sometimes, try out a Mesa/Boogie and/or and ENGL, buy some strings then leave. Always fun. Yeah I got my Ibanez from Guitar Crazy because my music teacher in highschool's brother works there so I got a discount  I went in there a few weeks ago when me and some...

Hahaa I was at that Billy Hyde sale at Camperdown, should've lined up on Wednesday to get one of the really awesome deals that were going. I got there at 7:30am on the day and by the time I got in everything was gone.

    Best Budget $500 Guitars

Out of the amps listed, I'd say VOXAD15 > Epiphone Valve Juniour > Spider > Cube. Since I don't know many of those guitars listed, go here and look at the reviews; http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar#manufacturer

    Best Budget Amp

Well then my vote goes to the 15 watt VOX, now that's a decent amp for the price. The tone is a little sterile, but is far superior to amps like the Spider II and MG which are more expenisve, and what more can you expect from any amp that price. Again, I really do want to stress this, STAY AWAY...

    Best Budget $500 Guitars

The only Pacificas worth getting are the high end ones, all the lower end ones (<than your price range) are shithouse. They deteriorate really fast.

    Best Budget $500 Guitars

I hope you didn't get that Pacifica.... Get an Ibanez RG, probably get a RG320FM for around $700 now, or just get that 170DX.

    Best Budget Amp

If you get an MG I will find you and beat you with it. Terrible over-priced pieces of shit. VOX hybrids are your best bet, the AD series. If they're too expensive then I guess a Spider isn't the worst you can do.

USyd Students - the VSU Era - What will you do?

Who cares, I'd rather pay nothing now and $500+ later on HECS, because I don't have $500+.

USyd Students - the VSU Era - What will you do?

Hell no That $604 I paid this year could have paid for all my textbooks with change, and for what, using my access card a few times? And hopefully this will stem all the pamplets and such floating around Uni, which are annoying as hell. Don't they understand I don't care? Oh and whoever keeps...

    School friends vs. Uni friends

Uni friends are ... different. Don't really have much in common with many people at all, so small talk is severely lacking. No one has a similar sense of humour either, hmmm. Different.

My friend does Bio-Med at USYD, he seems to like it. I don't think you NEED the phyiscs background, but you can always do the bridging. I do believe that there are actually good job prospects for bio-meds, forgot where I read that though. Oh and yeah they don't take in as many students as...

    USyders and Jobs.

Engineering - 24hrs/week Travel - 45 minutes each way Job - 0 ... I get Youth Allowance so I've never needed to work, but I'll be getting a job during the holidays from now on. I don't know how some people can do 20+ hours at Uni then go and work for another 20+ hours, I'd be exhasuted.

Now I'm worried about employment opportunities for mechatronics student, I guess a 60% employment rate ain't that bad, but why do we get the lowest salary! /may be regretting doing mtrx engineering.
