i was mucking around with marks in SAM when i came across something interesting. i dont know if its a bug or a very weird hsc mark problem

first i put in 50's for all my subjects

Design and Technology: 50
English(Advanced): 50
English Extension 1: 50
General Mathematics: 50
Physics: 50
Software Design and Development: 50
Studies of Religion 1: 50
NSW UAI: 52.65

then i put in 60's for all my subjects
Design and Technology: 60
English(Advanced): 60
English Extension 1: 60
General Mathematics: 60
Physics: 60
Software Design and Development: 60
Studies of Religion 1: 60
NSW UAI: 45.40

52.65 compared to 45.40
seems a bit weird

It's not a bug. It's just you have entered the mark incorrectly.

The way SAM works is that if you put an aligned mark of say 60 for a 1U course such as extension english, it will half it to make it worth 1U rather than 2U if you mistakenly thought you had to input the mark out of 100.

So in your case, English extension should be a mark out of 50. When inputting a mark of 50, it shows that you attained the highest mark. Same goes with Studies of Religion.

So when you input a mark of 60, SAM will half it into 30, thus making the UAI lower.
