I mentally blanked couldnt think of anything really to begin with, so i said the changing needs/values of society, eg recognition of human rights in society leading to the criminalisation of certain things, no longer using harsh punishments, and new technology, linking this to international crime, and reffered to the case of the Wonderland Club in 2000.
Hoping this was ok?
wonderland club would have been a good case to use but for bonus points you could have used the recent discovery of Operation Koala - child pornography ring between 28 countries...happened 2 days before the exam!
my teacher was forever ranting on about having RECENT examples... or something like that

all over i thought the exam was eaaaaaasy as...

few iffy ones in m/c but i'm hoping for over 85 at least :)

I talked about changing social values and mentioned the elimination of capital and corporal punishment.
and i talked about changing technology, mainly focussing on DNA technology... and mentioned the last person in Australia who was hanged, and they now know that he was innocent due to new techonology. I forgot his name, it was frustrating.

Dont know how right i am though.

i did a similar thing to most people here. i did:

1. Changing community standards and attitudes and discussed the decriminalisation of homosexuality, and also domestic violence
2. Failure of existing law, and discussed how the failure of existing criminal laws to protect australians lead to the introduction of the anti-terrorism laws

what do you guys think of my answer (particularly the second one)? I hope it was ok. i actually thought this crime section was really good compared to some years

I did Societies changing moral and ethical values - the idea of just sending people to jail was ineffective as it didn't protect society because the criminals came out worse. As this didn't protect society, it felt that criminals needed to be treated differently, thus reform of the law introduced other forms of punishment community service orders, bonds, home detention, weekend detention etc. And yes I realise that it hasn't really got anything to do with societies changing moral and ethical values

I did technological developments - the need to be protected on the Internet as technology develops further, allowing people to make transactions online. etc. which makes them vulnerable to hackers etc. Law need to be developed in this area to better protect people.

What a crappy answer.

These are syllabus dot points, such as (and these are the ones I used):

- Impact of new technology
- Failure of Existing Laws

Really, studying the syllabus would have gotten you full marks in the Crime section, it was just that silly.

Lol @ EXAMINE the Punishments, how about get on your knees and suck me sideways?

But nah seriously, I'm hoping for at least 93 raw in that exam, wasn't hard at all.
well i hope u do get well 100% from the way ur talking...btw yeh the questions were straight from the syllabus but theres a massive difference between what u wrote based on what u think answered the syllabus questions and what the markers expect of u...so i wouldnt count my eggs b4 they hatch

i did changin social values and new technology and its impact of domestic and nternaitonal criminal law...buh my examples werent solid so yeh fd...did anyone else think there wasnt enuf to talk about for the 8 marks i mean if they had said three conditions maybe 8 marks would of be gud? i dunno i can never tell how i have to write in accordance with the marks especially with legal...did anyone else feel like that??
