I have some questions regarding the D.C. motor:

- How could you reverse the direction of the rotation of the motor?
- What's the main difference (advantage/disadvantage) of a D.C motor?
- Name examples of where D.C. motors are used

half arsed answers to get u started:

-reverse current flow direction, or reverse magnetic field orientation
-advantages are its easy to make, cheap, relatively efficient, easy to apply to different tasks. disadvantages are it causes sparking and thus radio interference, back EMF limits its speed, commutators wear out fast.
-everywhere in small appliances, everything that moves on battery power, all portable power tools etc

A couple more questions...
1) Name the differences between a DC motor and an AC motor.
2) The stator of a D.C. motor, when an electromagnet is used in place of a permanent magnet, what is the effect on the DC motor?
3) Is the function of the conducting brush to allow current to pass through the commutator?

1) dc motor runs on dc, requires a commutator, eg. a split ring
ac electrical motor runs on ac, and has a slip ring attached to the brushes
ac induction motor has completely different structure, with the squirrel cage rotor and fluctuating fields created by the stator coils. it does not require commutators and any contact such as the brushes

2) it allows much easier manimpulations of teh B field
