Do UNSW Engineering degrees require MX1 and physics before enrolling? (1 Viewer)

I'm seeing on the School of engineering website that Aerospace engineering degree assumes that you have a good amount of knowledge in physics and MX1 and my problem is that I do not do either.
are there bridging courses etc or should I just lose all hope for engineering lol

Its assumed knowledge, meaning that going into the course they will assume you know concepts from those subjects

Just you get you “up to speed” for uni but it’s not a way to fulfil prerequisites.

You will probably have to learn the advanced content and mx1 content during holidays or the period after your HSC. Whatever you do, if you are dedicated, interested, and work hard enough you will find a way to do the course you want. Don't be discouraged just by the fact you will have to put more work in.

I personally wouldn't risk it. People often pay attention to the pre-requisites & less attention on assumed knowledge. They both guide you to make the right decision. Going into engineering w/o MX1, I'm not sure about this. I recall there was a video made by the Maths faculty to help students choose the right Maths course for them. I don't have it on file but there is this one on you-tube. (I haven't watched this but I think its similar to the one I watched last year.)

I don't know much about bridging courses, it may work.

I'm doing comp sci at UNSW without MX1 and also looked at this stuff:

Their assumed knowledge is pretty weird because they want 100 mark of Adv and ext 1 which is actually not much at all if you get a high B5/B6 in adv.

I'm learning programming stuff now but I'm gonna start math pretty soon to prepare and I've found some stuff to do for math. They have a playlist of math fundamentals which might be helpful and 'worksheets' which is what I think the assumed knowledge is supposed to be.

Also what I did is look at the course outline to see what math units I will actually need to do in semester 1 - once I've done the worksheets and fundamentals (if I try them and they're good) I will look for work specifically around those topics.

Basically the first 2 math subjects you do at uni include relevant extension 2 maths content from the HSC and new content that builds off past maths knowledge you have in most cases. Engineering is a very maths heavy degree and so if you are not strong in those subjects you will probably struggle. Therefore, the extension 1 maths at the minimum is very important. You can try learn it yourself before uni but that requires a lot of dedication and some natural ability to self learn it. HSC physics is not as necessary as uni physics is not really that similar. Having a strong maths knowledge is actually more relevant to doing well at uni for physics subjects.

I think maybe you should look more into what the actual degree entails as aerospace is probably on the more math heavy side of engineering as you also have to do some 2nd year maths course in complex analysis and vector calculus. I don't mean to shoot down your hopes but if you don't like maths then the degree will probably be challenging for you. I guess you can try it and see but be prepared to work hard outside the classes to get your maths knowledge up to speed. At uni no one will tell you to do that or give you any guidance in terms of what to learn and where to learn it from, so it is going to have to be a largely self-motivated effort on your part to spend the extra time and learn it

I did General Mathematics 2 for my HSC subject. Then I did a bridging course for Advanced Mathematics at my university that covered two years of equivalent of HSC Advanced Mathematics content in 12 weeks lol , for a engineering technology degree. So its possible
