Well as above. I'm at Baulkham Hills currently, year 10. Contemplating going to Ruse - should I or shouldn't I, and would I have a good change of getting into their maths ext.2 class?

*EDIT* Well I was first in the grade for year 8 & year 9 ? Not so much now i don't think. but, it would make it easier right?

there's not much point in moving tbh.

although ruse is obviously better, baulko is not far behind.

you'd also have a hard time adjusting cause you're moving in senior year.

Go if you want to. They're both good schools, and if you're bright you could do well at either of them. What happens with maths is the new people initially all get put into the 4th class, and after a placement test [generally on logs/absolute values/polynomials and radians] you get sorted into classes based on ability. People get moved around sometimes if they do really well/shit in exams as well.

At the end of yr11 if you do well enough in the exam [about top90 or so] you're allowed to do 4U. If you didn't make it, it's possible to attempt to cajole your way in, but it's a bit iffy.

Good luck with whatever you choose :]

just be good at math and you'll get in.

right now the head won't even let me do 3u math, based on my yr 7 - 10 results. I never gave a shit about my marks let alone going home and constantly finishing my homework everyday, but I reckon if I at least worked I would be in at least m4.

He only has 3 terms to judge you as 4u material student or not.

Ruse does select their classes yes. Being in the top 96 will get you in, and a lot of newbies get in. As a newbie you're automatically placed in Maths4, which is the last 4U class. Generally if you stick to the standard of 4 you should get in comfortably.

Since you were first in Baulko Maths, you shouldn't have trouble getting into Ruse 4U classes. But at the moment, Baulko is quite close to Ruse in term of ranks, so the move may not be all THAT advantageous

No, it is for people who are good at or enjoy maths and want to utilise it for a scaling advantage and in university. It has nothing to do with whether people have a life or not lol

hahahahahahha
omggg

Yeah I met the guy that came first in Year 10. He's currently in Year 11 or something.. I felt bad because I annoyed him with all these stereotypical questions
