does detente end with the soviet invasion of afghanistan?

cause im a bit confused. does that then signal the start of the so called 'second cold war' with Reagan?

i just have a feeling the question might be on detente or something.

yep end of Detente is Afghanistan -- and you are also right, it is the beginning of the second cold war.

Yeah the end of Detente coninsided with the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan - basically it was the last straw for President Reagan-

i think dates wise;

Regan became president in 1980 - Soviets invaded Afghanistan in 1980 (after he became president) which ushered in the 2nd Cold War -

sorry ur correct - 1979 - Last year of Carters admin Soviets invade afghanisatan - Reagan elected president in 1980

but i did get something right - it was the first event of the second cold war which began in 1979
