I swear, I will punch my teachers in the face.

I'm getting decent marks...I shouldn't be. None of my tests were hard...not one question had me going...fuck, fuck, fuck.

Yes, that sounds pompous, but it's not 'cause the other people in my year are saying the same thing.

See, now I'm getting worried 'cause the HSC will be 10 000 000 times harder.

I haven't got my report back yet. My mark for English was shitty (77%), but I still managed to get 9th place out of 226 people. I suppose that doesn't say much about my school..

Don’t worry about your marks to much; focus more on your rank. When I did the hsc my half yearly results were not that great, mostly 60's and 70's, yet in the final exams I got mid 80s in nearly every subject, with one band six.
Also heading into the hsc exam my assessment mark in business was 80, but after getting 91 in the hsc exam it was moderated to 86.

just wondering if at any of your schools they scale the marks they do in maths at our school which is going to mean that my 89.5 raw mark gets changed to 92. I dont no how it works though but they dont do it in any other subjects

I'm feeling pretty great about my assesment ranks right now

But i totally agree everything is being marked much harder but i'm glad i mean in the hsc they are going to mark hard so we might as well get used to it.

About Half Yearlys

Hey guys
Just wanted other peoples opinions. Have you seen past HSC papers and found them to be remarkably easier than the school-set exams? I mean, I go to a selective school, if that changes things, but the HSC seems so much easier.

My marks in Halfy Yearlies were ok

Visual Arts 98
Modern History 84
Maths 46 - (class avg. 36, year avg approx. 50 - however seen past HSC papers and i believe i could/should get mid 80s low 90s, will this pull my school mark up?)
Eng(adv.) - not received yet
Eng.Ext 1 - not received yet
Eng.Ext 2 - no ass. but 14/15 for last one
Business Studies - not received yet

I'm not too happy with my marks... but oh well... they could be worse...
English adv.: 50 (woohoo!... its a pass!)
Maths: 60 (rank: 4th)
Chem: 65 (rank: 2nd)
Music: 74 (rank: 2nd by one mark!!)
Mod. hist: not expecting great things
Geo: this better be the outlier! I'm expecting over 80. My teacher... who is very strange... practically told me the exact questions that would be in it...

Well, anyway... I'm not liking the fact that these numbers are going to be on my report... at least my ranks aren't that bad... for three subjects anyway... and... theres only 10 people in maths... 6 in music... 4 in chem... so... its not that fantastic...

Which school do you go to James? (Before anyone jumps on me, it's not in his profile)
I go to a selective school too, and the majority of people have received disappointing results. I'm usually band 5/6, but aside from French (70%) and SAC (84%) all of my marks so far have been in the mid 60%s. But I don't think it's just because of them marking hard- our maths teacher seemed pretty upset. A couple of students got 6 out of 84.
We don't have our official reports yet, or even all our results- there's some hold up in the English marking.

I think the thing which is most different from yr11 in our school is also the fact that there is no longer one person dominating certain categories of subjects. Everyone is really driven to go well. Having said that i'm pretty happy with all my overall ranks (first in 4 subjects, top 5 in another and don't know about another).

Hey guys

Well done everyone! We're half way there!!!

For those that aren't happy - don't worry - we've still got half our assessments to go, and even then, a lot of school assessments are made harder to prepare us for an easier hsc - (apparently - or maybe our maths teacher's trying to get us to feel better...)

My Half Yearlies:
English: 100
Modern History: 98
Biology: 91
Music: 85
Ext. English: 93
Maths: 76

Good luck for the next one, everyone - it's creeping up!! *cringes*
