The selection period has gone, DP is always making jokes, don't want to talk to them, also very rude

the selection period is gone, and it's already pretty late into the term (beyond halfway) so it's probably unlikely you'll be allowed to drop legal studies. but if you're studying 12+ units in total, that means you can drop it at the end of term 3 so you don't have to take it in year 12. though if you're really desperate you should probably approach another teacher about dropping first (then deputy as your last resort).

and out of curiosity, why did you pick legal studies if you (seemingly) despise it so much? and if you did regret your decision only at the start of term, why didn't you swap during the selection period?

if you don't complete an assessment, i think that means you could get an n award i think? and an automatic zero. i'd say just do it - just complete it, especially if it's a hand-in essay. it doesn't have to be perfect or in the A grade, just so you can hand it in and nothing bad happens later down the line because of it. i know people who took bludge subjects and did the bare minimum for their assessments and ended up dropping it because in the end it was a bludge

I just wanna drop out

But I probbably should do it anyway

I really hate law, how hard it is doesn't matter this is just something I really hate studying and writing about

Whatever, I have to try harder

I've got into a gaming addiction as I no longer care about this, I don't want to, even though I have to

thanks for the reply

Just write it, it’s not worth risking your hsc over an essay

If you really hate it that much do the absolute bare minimum for the remaining assessment tasks and then drop it at the very beginning of term 4 (as soon as you can, when you enter year 12).
I think you are catastrophising a bit - have a chat to some trusted people about some strategies to bear with it for the time being. It is nearly impossible to try to do anything about that with online randoms on bored of studies lol.

If you're going to drop out, do something valuable with that time like TAFE or some apprenticeship. If its just because you're feeling like you can't study anymore + you're addicted to gaming + you feel pathetic then you're shooting yourself in the foot by not doing the HSC.

Don't get me wrong, you can go to uni at 24 or 30 or work at some job later on when you feel motivated again but think about it, you have 2 years of HSC where you can spend the time learning stuff for uni/tafe (if you're interested in that) for free so when you do want to go there eventually you can mingle with first years mostly ur age and finish "schooling" by 21-24 with a normal degree (e.g comp sci, eng, finance...) etc.

Not saying that will give you peace of mind but its better than burning out to such an extent where you have to catch up with the rest of the world.

Just think about it. Its fine to drop out but never to give up. Regardless you'll still need to work hard so if you feel like dropping out for "gaming" then that's on you, you'll be behind everyone else who decided to work as an apprentice or continue in to uni.

Don't lose sight yet, everyone has potential and its only up to them to recognise it.

I had a similar situation (wanting to leave legal studies and having an essay assignment due) and the deputy principal made a mistake so my form to drop was taking longer than usual to process. Not doing the assignment will have implications on your ability to continue through year11/12 and you'll really be cursing yourself later. In my case, I just did the absolute bare minimum of effort into answering the questions and submitted on the last day.

It was less awkward for me because I was enrolled out of the subject just a few days after submission. However you probably need to stay for the remainder of year 11 and will definitely be confronted for non-submission. If your goal is to just have legal studies out of your mind, do the assignment so that the consequences don't follow you later on, and you'll enjoy peace of mind later.
