On the UTS website for International Studies it says that there is no guarantee that students will get their chosen country elective

So, I was just wondering, how many people do International Studies, and if you do it, did you have any difficulties getting your country of choice?

I really want to study Chile!

Thanks :)

id say you're very likely to get the major you want.

it's more the very popular streams (read: france) where the students battle it out to get in.

i wouldn't worry about it if you're set on chile. i chose spain, which is moderately popular i gues, and got in.

I had no problems getting into Spain or Japan (I switched to Japan last minute) and everyone I know doing the course (only a couple of people) got into their choices easily, so I think its a small minority that don't get their first option
