Does anyone agree with this? What is SO bad about having an arts degree? Does it just give no good qualifications for a career or something?

Please elaborate.

maybe try the university general section for more opinions but i personally see an arts degree as a good stepping stone into further study and i dont think it is bad at all

I am currently enrolled in one, and did come into it with that mind set. But after doing the course for a year, i can tell you, it is a versatile degree which can be used to springboard into other such degrees or completed by itself in one of its variants, with a DipEd or otherwise, and is very useful for those wanting to do things in the humanities field.

Think of it as a general humanities degree, with specialising available afterwards through either transfer into another degree or through majors. (Kind of like how B Sci is the science equivalent).

Genereally yes, unless you do like politics, journalism or something like that. In other words if you are really rich why not throw about $30k away on a waste of time like an arts degree, cause most employers think its a piece of shit. However if you do a double degree with arts and something else then maybe it is good

Arts (Honours) ----> post-grad Law and your set for life.
Anything and Law will set you up good, however there are a lot of lawyers out their and speculation that the government is changing things to deter new lawyers.
If you want to be a corporate lawyer, then business/law would be good or commerce/law
