Hi, I'm just wondering what kind of laptop I might need for bachelor of music (performance)?
I'd assume I only need something fairly basic, but I wanted to check.
What kind of things (other than the usual, you know, note taking, research, emails, pdfs etc.) would I need a laptop for in a music (performance) degree?
Thanks!

definetely not going to a music degree, but do and have played drumset for musical productions and bands:
the first thing you have to consider is if you have to compose (using Sibelius, etc.). If you do have to compose in your degree, then it's worth finding a laptop with 16GB of ram or more (just incase those scores get big). Check your course outlines and also consider if your gonna do any composition electives.
Otherwise, getting an iPad might even be beneficial to you, as most (jazz/contemporary) professionals in the industry use iPad's for score-reading. (But then again, you might be a classical musician).

If not, any laptop will do. Like seriously, just buy a nice, budget friendly laptop from a reputable brand.
