My first preference is Commerce Engineering at USyd. I did Extension 1 but in hindsight would have loved to have done Extension 2, and it would probably have suited my degree better than other subjects I did. Which content should I cover in preparation for next year? I was thinking about ditching stuff like harder 3U and focusing on complex mainly but I’m really not too sure what topics are absolutely necessary.

None lol, they'll teach you everything you need to know. If you want to be productive, go learn some programming. Unless you do a software orientated engineering degree, you'll be doing a ton of Matlab. Best place to learn that for free is using Octave, which is an open source program that's almost identical to Matlab: https://www.gnu.org/software/octave/. There's also an online version here: https://octave-online.net/.

Does the same also apply to Physics for Engineering?
