Jemma and emily went for a hike. They travelled S32°E for 6km. Where they found a waterfall. Then they traveled due north, passing their starting point, on their way they stopped for lunch. The bearing of their starting point from where they had their lunch was 238°.

how far do jemma and emily need to walk to reach their starting point?

For this question, draw out a diagram. Then things will come naturally.

First and foremost means 32 degrees from the south. Often times if they show bearings like this it means a certain number of degrees from that direction which for this case is south. The first bearing takes priority over the second one.
