Pedophile party announces policies
From: Reuters
From correspondents in Amsterdam

May 30, 2006

DUTCH pedophiles were launching a political party to push for a cut in the legal age for sexual relations from 16 to 12 and the legalisation of child pornography and sex with animals.
The Charity, Freedom and Diversity (NVD) party said on its website it would be registered officially on Wednesday, proclaiming: "We are going to shake The Hague awake!"

The party said it wanted to cut the legal age for sexual relations to 12 and eventually scrap the limit altogether.

"A ban just makes children curious," Ad van den Berg, one of the party's founders, told the Algemeen Dagblad (AD) newspaper.

"We want to make pedophilia the subject of discussion," he said.

He said it had been a taboo since the 1996 Marc Dutroux child abuse scandal in neighbouring Belgium.

"We have been hushed up. The only way is through parliament," Mr van den Berg said.

The Netherlands already has liberal policies on soft drugs, prostitution, and gay marriage, but the NVD is unlikely to win much support, the AD quoted experts as saying.

"They make out as if they want more rights for children. But their position that children should be allowed sexual contact from age 12 is of course just in their own interest," anti-pedophile campaigner Ireen van Engelen told the daily.

The party said private possession of child pornography should be allowed although it favours banning the trade of such materials.

The broadcast of pornography should be allowed on daytime television, with only violent pornography limited to the late evening, according to the party.

Toddlers should be given sex education and youths aged 16 and up should be allowed to appear in pornographic films and prostitute themselves.

Sex with animals should be allowed although abuse of animals should remain illegal, the NVD said.

The party also said everybody should be allowed to go naked in public.

The party's programme also includes ideas for other areas of public policy including legalising all soft and hard drugs and free train travel for all.

Agree with the Dutch's liberal agenda in regards to gay couples, prostitution for consenting adults etc, but this is going too far and won't get much support I don't think.

Seems like a strange article to post, given the allegations made about the leader of your faith.
I will not tolerate this Dutch hate. Stick it to the individuals.
Like, I dont want Indonesians painting Australia as a land of Pauline Hansons either

Oh sorry if the way I worded it came across as Dutch hate. I LOVE the place, Amsterdam is the most fun city I have been too and the people are awesome. just don't see this proposed legislation getting anywhere.

No no, not you dear.
Being both Dutch and English, I have this constant inner conflict and self-loathing which rears its random head now and then.

Odd article. Though it should be noted that the party depicted there has little presence in the Netherlands and perhaps could be equated to our Family First party in terms of influence.(Don't know who Family First are? Then there's my point)

Also from an ideological standpoint, the areas they're challenging do have some limited merit however it just appears to be very ill thought out in its application since those specific laws aren't really needed.

Example: Why should someone wear clothes in public? To avoid offending people? Since when are laws enforced to serve some people's personal values etc. However its not like many people are really that keen to walk buck nekkid down the street especially in the oftimes freezing temperatures. People currently have the option to walk around everywhere in their underwear or swimwear but they don't - thats usually reserved for home or beach/pool. Nudity would be the same, so I don't see any point to overturning the current illegality of nudity.

Its also nice that they're trying to move the focus away from reflexive banning but rather toward effect based but the animal sex one is a reallly dumb one to do that for.

I'd also say that some of the pornography laws are a bit odd[like the fact you can legally have sex earlier than you can legally watch it], but its clearly not appropriate for a minor to prostitute themselves.

IMO, this is just a group of people trying to get as much attention by being as radical as possible - they can't possibly expect those ideas to get through parliament. Its also been further sensationalised by the so called 'journalist' who wrote it...got to love the opening line calling them pedophiles.

Yet despite its low primary vote count, Family First is a party with a Senator who, at times, effectively holds the balance of power in the Senate.

Not the greatest example, kami.

Its the only example I could come up with at the time that I wouldn't need to use google for. :p

Perhaps the Communists would be a better example then - I'm pretty sure they have a party in Australia.
