its prlly best to get a beginners book if its your first time programing so you can learn some of the structures for programming.. i have 2 books that i got a few years ago i dont really use them anymore i just go to php.net to look up functions

when i started i got a book called Beginning PHP4 i'd have to give it 5/5 for teaching you from scratch!

Sometimes i find learning from a book you miss out on things... Like, I got a PHP/MySQL book, but it really only teaches how to do this, exactly this, and misses heaps...
