What is the ideal proportion of an essay you should designate to each your prescribed text and related text? Should I write about each text equally or place slightly more emphasis on the prescribed text (say 60/40).

Additionally, if you were asked to use two related texts, should I focus the same amount on prescribed text (50/25/25) or further distribute emphasis across the essay (40/30/30).

Obviously the values are just for illustrative purposes.

I always found that it was always ideal to focus on your core text more.

E.g. if you have 2 extra texts you structure it like so

Body 1: Core Text
Body 2: Extra Text 1 (link to core text)
Body 3: Core Text
Body 4: extra Text 2 (link to core text -> specifically what you said in body 3)

Keep each body paragraph roughly the same length (about 150 words) and you should be fine

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the help! I've always been conflicted as to what the best structure was.
