Hey guys.
I am an Year 11 student that has just joined Normanhurst BHS.
I am currently forced to study Advanced.
I simply suck at it.
Now, at the beginning of Year 12, I am thinking about dropping down to Standard.
Should I do it, even though doing so means distance education for English?
Here are the facts:
  • I do Tutoring at Matrix
  • I got C for my RoSA at my previous school, Chatswood HS
  • I hate English
  • Middle of Band 8 in NAPLAN Reading in Year 9
  • Middle of Band 9 in NAPLAN Writing in Year 9
  • Failed Selective Exams in Year 6, mostly due to English.
  • Dead average at English at Killarney Heights, a very dropkick school, which I attended in Years 7 - 9.
  • Got rejected by Manly Selective and North Sydney BHS in Year 6 for the same reason, although I did get in to Chatswood Selective.
  • Got rejected by North Sydney BHS again for the same reason, although I did get in to Manly Selective and Normanhurst BHS

At Selective school English Advanced is compulsory (pretty sure)

Do English Advanced. Similar difficulty but the aligning is a lot better then Standard.

You're forced to do adv since you go to a selective school, and you should honestly stick with it. I don't see much difference between the two, except the scaling for standard is tragic compared to advanced. Just pull through, I'm sure you will be fine.
