Just got most of my half-yearlies back. I'm easily coming first across the board but just wondering whether having such a disparity between 1st and 2nd is a good thing come HSC time...
If you're first, you'd want to create the largest between yourself and the others as possible.
This is so you have a higher chance of staying first in case you screw up rank wise. And if you do come first, your overall mark won't be so bad if you screw up during the HSC exams
However, having an outlier may negatively affect those who come in the next couple of spots i.e. 2nd to 4th maybe. But I guess that's not your problem.

Our teachers tell us that if you're going well in your rank, then you're nearly guaranteed to get the top mark in the hsc exam. So it shouldn't matter how far behind you the other people are.
