Quick question guys, what does the 'scaled' mean, is it for UAI?

AAlso if so, how come the distinction courses get scaled down, woudl't they scale more than the others due to the quality of the canditure?

scales is like................

think of it as weighing up differences between schools

if everyone in the state gets 100%,
then it seems 100% is the average and you are nothing special, might just mean the test was hella easy,

if you do well in school and your schools fucken shit, it may imply not that you are good, just you goto a shit school
HOWEVER<
if your school is good and you do well, you get pushed up, because your schools good implying everyone in it is good and since u are the best, u are ahead.

differnt schools give differnt tests and marks and assessments,
thats why scaling helps to fix that so a school cant make you look good when indeed you are shit in comparison to another school

summery :
takes your marks into account against your school and weights it up against other students in your school and other schools.

hope that helped, im not that great at explaining it

i dont get it...so our scaled mark for ALL courses seem to be always less than our actual HSC mark? except for the high scaling courses such as maths extension 2?

i thought physics and chem would be scaled quite high,,,but the average goes from like 37 to 31???

is their a chance that the HSC mark in that table is the moderated HSC mark and not the raw one, because thats the only way that table makes any sense.

you boys are getting mixed up between scaled and moderated.

you do the exam.
you get a raw mark.
this mark gets moderated to a more appropriate mark across all subjects.
this mark then gets combined with your school mark.
the resulting aligned mark is scaled to calculate your uai.
