Strong cohort but low rank (1 Viewer)

What happens if an individual's raw assessment mark is really good, say 80+ or so for a subject like chemistry, but the cohort is strong so that person is ranked pretty low. Will this negatively affect that individual?

It's not so much about the ranking but the increments. If your chem mark is 80+, but the top kid is getting like 95, you'll probably end up with an assessment mark for hsc, of about 15 less than the top mark. However, if this truly is a really strong cohort, the top mark might be 95-97, so its not the end of the world.

Well if your cohort is strong as you say then it won't really matter in the end because you'll all end up with high marks.
