This is from a NEAP past paper book (Biology)

Evaluate - means to make a judgement based on criteria; determine the value of. In this type of question you are required to make a judgements about people, ides and possible actions. You will need to make an evaluation statement based on certain criteria that you have developed.

Assess - means to make a judgement of value, quality, outcomes, results or size. You will need to make points for and against and then an assessment statement based on certain criteria that you have developed.

Hope this helps! =)

live them, learn them, try to love them :) they can really make a difference in the amount of marks you get in a question by making sure you're answering the right question. You probably don't need to know all of them, but certain subjects have a few key ones that always come up in their syllabus' and exams.

Hey there Brontecat, haven't seen you for ages!! Hows studying going?
BTW, thanks!! so happy that I've got them right. Our Biology teacher even give us a vocab list for these terms. And she said that when you see the word "assess" it can be worth something like 7 marks max. and for evaluate, it can worth about 5 or 6 marks. :uhoh:
