Explore texts and relate ways of thinking characteristic of Romanticism.
Romantics valued the imagination, individualism, and idealism. Typified by the search for meaning through the individual’s relationship with the natural world, the wider social and political contexts. Texts examine or affirm the power of the imagination to inform, illuminate, and transform human experience.

Explore, analyse, experiement, and critically evaluate.

1. Scientific, religious, philosophical and economic paradigms relating to the romantic period have shaped and are reflected in texts.
2. Romanticism is typified by the search for meaning through representations of the individual’s relationship with the natural, social, and political worlds.
3. Texts examine or affirm the power of the imagination to inform, illuminate, and transform human experience.

Form and features.

The student distinguishes and evaluates values.
The student explains different ways of valuing texts.
The student composes extended texts.
The student develops and delivers sophisticated presentations.

STC: analyse each group (conversation/mystery) with regard to poetic devices and central themes that link to romantic thinking. Examine with regard to the degree each one affirms the power of imagination to inform, illuminate, and transform human experience.

The above is the syllabus as I know it. Can anyone explain what it means for a student to 'Compose an extended text?' and in looking at paradigms, idealism, and the individual's relationship with the natural social and political worlds, is that referring to the composer or the persona? Or would you refer to both as it's represented in the text?

Much appreciated!
