Stupid question, but because of the two covid waves in 2020 winter and 2021 spring, did NESA make the two HSC exams easier for the past two years, or did difficulty did not change at all?

My science department said the physics and chemistry ones were hard in 2021.

Difficulty shouldn't have changed - but I do feel as though HSC exams have been getting harder and harder every year. This year's trials felt much harder then 2020 and 2021 (atleast mine were), and this indicates the companies and schools are preparing for a harder HSC.

I might be bias but I feel like 2021 3u was easy. 4u had an interesting Cauchy solvable q but was still possible to do in the standard way. Overall doable 4u paper. Chem was ok a lot more calculations from what I remember and they chucked in a yr11 pressure q lmao. Phys was more or less the same difficulty as 2020 imo. 2020 papers were just easy in general lol.

I've taught HSC math for the last 12 years, and I am almost certain that the 2020 and 2021 math papers were the easiest papers which have appeared in the past 20 or so years.

I was surprised by how straight forward many of the questions were (especially in the Advanced paper), but we were in COVID19, so I suspect the paper authors took that into consideration and toned everything down.

It does not help that these years coincide with the introduction of the new Adv Math HSC course, because it's hard to tell if the papers for the new ADV math course will permanently be easier or if they were just easier due to COVID19.
