How is their school system different to normal schools?
i'm pretty sure its the same, the only difference is the people (more academically gifted). How is their school system different to normal schools?
main thing would be the cohort, everyone is a lot more academically motivated and it kinda pushes you tooHow is their school system different to normal schools?
It's the same but the level of average student is higher. By putting these students with each other they can study at a level that is more appropriate for them and it fosters competition between students of a high level pushing to perform better. This is opposed to the abilities in a normal school where it is probably more varied. Here the teacher can't move as fast in the content because they need to cater for all students. How is their school system different to normal schools?
i think with unis they might have better connections i.e. better internship opportunities. but i dont know thats just my guessi have the same question for unis. What makes some unis different to others?
Uni's for the most part don't give you the internship. There may be certain programs in which the uni is linked to an industry but it's not really like go a uni = get an internship. You have to go and apply at companies yourself so that's not really the difference between themi think with unis they might have better connections i.e. better internship opportunities. but i dont know thats just my guess
Could you elaborate and possibly give an example of this?ATAR factory: extra curriculars and sports are fairly neglected (relative to academics) at some of these schools.
- "Band 6 at all costs" mentality for some students.
Shall I give an example Kurt's education, Dr Du? Read the forums regarding them and you will see a lot of fireworks there between former high students in those forums.Could you elaborate and possibly give an example of this?
there's probably more homework. but it's stuff u could probably find/buy yourself.i'm pretty sure its the same, the only difference is the people (more academically gifted).
They don't have superior teacher, more homework etc... everything is pretty similar lol.
I'd say 80% of the time (traditional) tutoring can be replaced by just grit and hard work (except for subjects that you're hopelessly weak in). Doing well at a selective schools isn't 100% dependent on tutoring. While tutoring can provide you direction, from my experience and what I've seen from tutoring centres, traditional tutoring is a baby sitting service that can be replaced by a 10 minute Eddie Woo video and a drop of self-confidence.My mates and I go to a private school and although it has a better environment it’s not different to public schools in academics. We were wondering whether it’s better to go to a public selective school, and spend those $8000 a year on matrix education or other tutoring for better academic success?
But wouldn’t selective schools have some kind of teacher supervision or something to ensure they have the best teachers for their students? There is no difference, the only difference when it comes to it is really just the atar. Iirc I read that James Ruse had a median atar of 99.2 in 2017, so that means if you were above the median rank during that time in James Ruse you were pretty much guaranteed a 99 atar, provided you don't flunk the HSC. So basically Selective schools just group really smart kids together in an attempt to make them smarter, but from personal experience, some selective school teachers can be really shit hence why a lot of us go tutoring since they just don't teach the content well enough to achieve the 99 atars that our parents require to not get disowned.
Can confirm I have had English teachers that legit gives us work sheets and just say "do it"But wouldn’t selective schools have some kind of teacher supervision or something to ensure they have the best teachers for their students?
My English teacher has flooded me with worksheets of so many that at this stage I’m using a folder instead of an exercise book to keep my notes. Can confirm I have had English teachers that legit gives us work sheets and just say "do it"
Mate come on Eshays can destroy any selective kid. They are leading physicists which have won several noble prizes and have invented the wheel. However, they are so humble they act dumb just to blend in with the kids so they don't intimidate others. Honestly, they are such a blessing they keep the school safe and monitor it.idk, you don’t get generally any dropkicks wanna be eshays and junkies and the people are competitive on winning dux every year.
