well the thing is, even though i'd rather not hear the truth coz it's usually more painful, i always tell that personto tell it anyway (and regret asking them in the first place

If it was something which involved me, truth always...i need honesty in a relationship
but if someone wants to badmouth someone to me, then i'd rather them not tell me...the truth about other people can sometimes really warp the way you act/feel around them

Lie.
The only reason people tell the truth is because they have a huge amount of guilt. They're only telling the truth out of their own self-interest and do not take into account the feelings of the other person and how they will react. Keeping the truth from them is the only right and honourable thing to do.
If you tell them the truth you hurt them but at least get it off your chest. If you lie and they never find out, you're doing them a favour, even if you have to feel some guilt for a little while.

yeah but i guess i deserved in the fact that i am a true blue asshole and i guess whatever they said was damn right... however i still didn't want it coming from that person, i mean i can hack it taking from anyone but this person, but oh well fuck it...

Wrong. Some people (the speaker) tell those who are close to them (the listener) the truth because it gives the listener an accurate representation of how the speaker truly feels, rather than the listener only having someone who tells them what they want to hear.
This disproves your flimsy claim that people only tell the truth cos they have a huge amount of guilt. Some people prefer having truthful people around them who don't make them happy 100% of the time, than being surrounded by agreeable machines who tells lies to maintain the (artificial) flow of happiness.
