Raw band cut-offs. (Updated: 15/09/04)

This table consists of all raw band cut-offs that can be derived from the available raw marks. Raw marks, including raw band cut-offs, cannot be compared between courses. Comparisons across years can yield an indication of the relative difficulties of examination papers.

(Aligning has nothing to do with the scaling procedures used for the UAI.)

Remember that the aligned marks (i.e. the marks you receive from the Board) have no effect on your UAI.

umm.. do you find an estimation of what you're going to get in the hsc exam, find out the aligned mark and post it in SAM?

could some one tell me the what an aligned mark is. does it really affect ur UAI.

The mark that you get for a test is your raw mark and then this gets aligned to get your aligned mark according to your subjects and this is reported on the documents that you receive from the Board of Studies. The raw marks are also used by UAC to calculate your UAI by scaling these raw marks. So aligned marks are not used in your UAI

Meaning to say that if I receive 60/100 for the HSC exam for Physics, that is effectively 80/100 aligned HSC mark. ie 60% gets boosted up to 80% for physics.

How come there is a lack of raw mark cutoffs for getting 90?

It's not intentional - there just isn't enough data in the public domain to determine them.

These cut-offs have been reconstructed from raw marks that were obtained through FOI requests.
