Geez, the scaling on MX2 and Philo must be more intense that I thought... My marks are incomparable to how well you guys have done, much less in many cases. Yet my ATAR is keeping up there in with the top ones. :\

In my opinion, scaling is a very unfair process.

hey if a certain exam say, physics, was harder than previous years would it have better scaling this year? and hence, resulting in a higher atar than the predicted one by atar 09' calculators, etc?

Or is that difficulty of paper already taken into account with the boardofstudies aligning of Bands?

really? in my opinion it is fair. Yes, MX2 scales insanely well, but the fact is, the simple undertaking of it requires hours more hard work, dedication and effort, all for the price of an additional unit on top of 3 u maths. Plus, the work load of that additional unit is an extra subject at the very least. I don't think scaling is unfair at all, as high achievers in every subject stil score well. I think it is logical that someone who scores the median of mx2 would score better than someone in the median of ancient history, for example. MX2 is simply far harder and requires more effort, plus the candidature as a rule are far stronger.

Thank you guys!

And yeah, definitely about the 10 units. I did 10 units (only one out of two in my grade) from the very beginning, and I still remember standing in front of my deputy as she told me I was very likely to screw up because of my decision.

Shows what you can achieve if you believe in yourself =).

kinda. but usually descrepencies in the difficulty of exams are taking into consideration during the 'judging process' and applying the standards - thus, your marks are aligned more.
uac uses raw marks however and so yeah, i guess it would scale a lil more.
