I'm sure there are strengths to both singular stories and a suite of stories. My friend's doing a short story too, but given an 8000 word limit, it's best to develop one singular idea into a strong piece of work. A suite of stories would lessen the authors ability to develop characters...

we're doing institutions and romanticism for english adv, ext1 respectively. we studied 1984 by George Orwell and Emma by Jane Austen. this term we're gonna study Othello, we've watched the movie version. it was damn good, and damn sad at the end. :D
