Careers in mining, oil and gas, enviro stuff

As you don't mind moving away from Sydney maybe you should be looking at the courses offered by UTAS like the Bachelor of Antarctic Science. Then you could progress to taking a honours course which is offered by the Institute of Antarctic and Southern Ocean Studies (IASOS)...

What was ur first day @ Uni like, Uni Students?

Believe it or not you are probably lucky. Now you get to re-invent yourself and start afresh with a clean slate. Your old friends won't be influencing your new friends and you will be more open to opportunities that present themselves that your old friends might have held you back from...

Commonwealth Start Up & Relocation Scholarships

That might be because you aren't one. If you read through some of the lobbying information you'd realise that these changes are an extreme disadvantage for many rural students. The increases in parental income thresholds still don't make financial sense particularly when there is more than...

Commonwealth Start Up & Relocation Scholarships

Not going to happen THAT easily. These scholarships have been packaged with legislation that severely restricts rural and regional students from accessing Independent rate YA. Pyne is 100% committed to blocking this package because of the tens of thousands of signatures on petitions against this...

How to check if someone graduated from a particular university.

Ask her for a copy of her academic transcript or to sight her parchment. If you aren't in a position to do that, then it is probably none of your business in the first place.

    Current Youth Allowance Status?

It has been $5500 allowed in liquid assets for some time now. Doing a dodgy by using someone else's account could cause you to lose the lot if something were to happen to them and accidents do happen. Better to buy what you need early, pre-pay accomodation (you'll have to pay that from saving...

mining engineering - as boring as it sounds?

It doesn't. Not if you are really interested in it. The first two years are normally Civil Engineering with the final two years specialising in mining subjects. If you are going to do it then chose an AusIMM accredited course, but don't do it if you really aren't very interested in it and are...

    Engineering Grad Salaries

That's way too low for mining. The lowest I've heard is 90k with many earning well above 100k. Pays to bear in mind that mining grads need to work on-site to gain essential further certification. Management wouldn't be too happy if their grads did their blasting requisites in head office.

    Engineering Grad Salaries

It really does depend on who you work for and where you work, along with what they are including in the salary figure. Personally I'd treat the "average" and "up to" type figures provided by universities with a healthy dose of skepticism because they use those figures to market these courses...

    Engineering Grad Salaries

They are the ones that manage/co-ordinate the various activities at mines. The bosses at a mine site are usually but not always Mining Engineers. Mining engineering courses start out with the first two years of civil and structural engineering and then the final two years are the mining...

    Ausstudy/youth allowance/chanes

I hope there will be a compromise but certainly wouldn't be holding my breath. There are two seperate issues being fought out with regard to these changes. The first is whether the date of effect should be changed for current gap year students, and the second is the equity issue for rural and...

    Melbourne Uni Colleges

Don't be scared of them, colleges are a great way to start uni life particularly if you are going to a new city. You will be surrounded by people who have the same pressures as you, and will support you when you need it, and what'smore you don't have to leave home to party. Most other uni...
