Combined degree of BAct/BFin or BAct only? and overloading

ActS/Fin is a silly combination due to the huge amount of overlap (like you mentioned). My suggestion is to drop the Fin and replace with something more useful like Commerce (only if it's accounting) or Econ. Or if you really like Finance, drop finance and major it in Commerce (along with...

ANU VS. MACU - Commerce Urgent!

Actuarial studies is one of those degrees regulated by a governing body (like medicine, accounting, etc). Every uni will claim theirs will teach it the best, when in fact all the units for actuarial studies have more or less the same course work.

    Timetable trouble

Correct - EMET1001 isn't required for Actuarial. EMET1001 CAN be required for Finance if the student did not do STAT2032. I did both however just for fun.

    Timetable trouble

The R&D is an entirely different degree (with a UAI cutoff of 99).

    acceptance of offer?

Good luck getting one mate. They tend to be sold out quickly and there's a huge waiting list (with preference to staff, then later year students).

    Eco vs Comm

Not true about honours/masters but probably true about credit aveage. You won't find many graduate recruiters (not just for Econ but for any field) wanting you if you've gotten an average below a C.

    Eco vs Comm

I've got a friend graduating last year who landed a job with KPMG's Econtech department. She is doing Arts/Econ (without honours). Here are some employers you can work for as an economist: - All big 4 banks - All big 4 professional services firms - Investment banks - Private economics...

    Eco vs Comm

Finance if you want to move into the private sector Economics if you want to move into the public sector Obviously you can get into the private sector with economics (and vice versa) but it has less opportunities. Econ is harder than finance, though much of the hard courses are in the form of...

    First year maths

MATH1013/1014 are for those who do engineering, IT, or just have a general interest in maths. In terms of high-school maths it'll be like Methods (second hardest) MATH1115 are for those enrolled in Actuary Studies to gear them up for STAT2001, statistics or have a flare for maths (eg. do a...

    ANU's Bachelor of Engineering

Why wouldn't employers look at ANU's Eng grads? Do you really think they'll go "Oh this student is from ANU *resume in bin*" I don't know if it's well regarded but my mates tell me UNSW is more prestigious. You won't find civil or chemical engineering taught at ANU.
