Can someone please tell me what the hell is an AVI file and why I can't play it? I've tried downloading those Converter things, but it's not working. Thanks

you need some codecs probably.

or you could try windows media player 10? what program are you using to play the file?

genereally you play it in windows media player.

Depending what it is, chances are your missing codecs or the avi file is an unfinished download.

Here's what you do:

1) unplug the computer
2) throw it out the window of a tall building
3) learn to use a computer before you get another one.

thats pretty true. i reckon "they" should invent a universal pc player that plays all formats of video and can be updated easily

k-lite codec does the job

i had this one file that wouldnt play and after i installed the mega/large codec pack i could play almost any file

except one .avi file cause it had a really low quality and unusual audio codec for some reason

...what, that sounds alot like Media Player Classic (MPC) or VideoLan.
