What do you reckon the band 5 and 6 cut offs will be like this year? I know no one knows COMPLETELY, but I'm asking for an estimation. I do see that these new formats are more difficult than the previous format, and last years band 6 cut off was approximately 75-78%, so I'm thinking about 72-75% for this year? What about you guys? Band 5 will probably be around 65?

I would imagine that it would be around about 75%, i highly doubt as low as 72% though.

75% seems reasonable IMHO, I heard some people saying 90/100 for band 6 and think that's kinda BS.

The HSC exams used to be out of 120 so I think they meant 90/120 instead of 90/100. According to the raw mark database (attached) it is 94/120.

For a band 5 it was 71-72/120.

It could be quite different this year as they've reduced it to 100 marks and there's 10 multiple choice questions.

This pretty much. If I had to guess, I would say a band 6 will probably be around 77/100, whilst a band 5 will be about 63/100 (I think the cutoffs will go up slightly).

Sweet, I'm looking at about 72-75 raw hopefully, scoring 62 with not one bit of study at all + freaking out midway through the exam. Hopefully all this studying and past papers will push me up to 75.

I think the cut offs will go up a bit because there will likely be people getting a few lucky answers right in MC than before without it. (SO average will be slightly higher). SO I reckon high 70s.

I also considered that, but it may also be evened out with more marks for harder questions (last 15 marks), so less people get those marks. We'll just have to wait and see.
