Hi!

Just a quick Q regarding banked circular tracks

A section of the road is in the form of an arc of a circle of radius r. The road is banked at an angle (theta), so that a car of mass m travelling at speed v has no tendency to slip. Show that the resultant force on the car is given by
mg.tan(theta)
This question is from Patel, 9D btw
Going backwards from the given mg.tan theta i've got,

R = mg tan theta
R/mg = sin theta/cos theta
R cos theta = mg sin theta, which just doesn't work.. :confused::confused:

Any pointers?
