Re: Big Day Out

man that's a relief

i'm not reading this whole thread. what do people reckon are the chances these people make an appearance:
matisyahu (i know he toured earlier, but maybe?)
radiohead (currently on world tour, been a while)
yo la tengo (about start world tour for new album)
franz ferdinand (i read a while ago they had plans to come back to australia, nfi on this)
daft punk (i would die, and buy immediately, i've heard a few throw their name around)

if either of those 5 came i think i'd pretty instantly be in line

Re: Big Day Out

radiohead i would say little chance
though they would be surpassingly awesome
i think they're just touring to test out their new songs

Re: Big Day Out

this is what i'd read as to franz's possible BDO appearance - http://www.gigwise.com/news.asp?contentid=11425 which i found on wikipedia yonks ago

i forgot about splendour too, shame, some five star acts that i'd be happy to see back.

edit: sparta, yes. mars volta in november and sparta in january. what more could i ask for.

Re: Big Day Out

matisyahu wont be back again so soon

radiohead / thom yorke = possibility, havent been out in a while, doing huge world tour etc

im hoping for peaches

the killers could be a possibility?? new album out next week?

mars volta are here in november so they wont be back

this whole franz thing confuses me. alex says that they are hoping to pop out to aus + nz at the end of january. australia? nz? end of jan? absolutely rings bdo time. but they did it this year, and are recording the new album next year. im guessing if any kind of tour it will be a string of small club gigs like the strokes did that one time to test out the songs theyve already written

GUNS N ROSES~!!!!!

Its not all that crazy an idea, I dont know why anyone would think that...

It all points in the right direction...

The last US date on their current tour gives ample time for them to make it to Australia. Sebastian Bach said that "theres a good chance" (in a "Theyre definately coming, but im not sposed to say" kinda way) they will be here in summer. The only question is whether he meant our summer or northern hemisphere summer.

Also Chinese Democracy is due out sometime this year. The last press release (only this morning) gave a clue in saying that there are only 13 tuesdays until the end of the year....

So....

Id say theres still probably a less than even chance, but a chance nonetheless

Oooh. So many hopes and dreams crushed by the highly supported idea of Radiohead not coming.
Whenabouts they announce the line up anyhow?

They're announcing the lineup on Jay + The Doctor on Wednesday! It could be earlier than that as well, but it was confirmed by Myf today that it'll be announced then.
Note that this is only the first announcement and more bands are confirmed at later dates. I'm pretty sure they'll announce Tool and Muse on wednesday and another somewhat big artist, a few well known and then the lesser known artists should be announced as well.

The official lineup announced by Jay and The Doctor is
Tool
Muse
Jet
Violent Femmes
Scribe
The Killers
Eskimo Joe
My Chemical Romance
Evermore
Spank Rock
Sleepy Jackson
The Herd
The Spazzys

I think Thats pretty good. I'll most definately be going.
Next announcement should be at the end of the month.
