Black Opal, what's it all about? (1 Viewer)

I am first year Law/Commerce student, looking through the enrollment book i noticed this Black Opal program. My Mum really wants me to do it, continue on with all my School Captain, SRC, leadership stuff.
I am not sure if i want to do it or not...and have to make up my mind pretty quick as entries close soon.
Has anyone done it or knows anyone that has and could tell me:

Is it really like school SRC's organising stuff and running events?
How much of my precious time does it take up?
Is it fun?
What do u get for your entry money?

It takes a fair bit of time, but it seems pretty fun.
Yes, you do organise things and run events.
However, it is quite commercial and not really related to the uni.

heaps of my friends are in black opal.
all i know is they go on camps. camps are fun.
and they have meetings and stuff and get shirts.
and it would be a great way to meet other people aswell.

i know im applying for it when if i get into uow.
