adv
- reduces government control leading to increased competition
- increased public ownership of the business
- decreased government control of markets

disad
- may be more costly for some particular businesses (imagine aus post being privatised!!!)
-danger of monopoly which usually works against competition.

A GBE is a Government Business Enterprise (for example Australia Post). Within this - the legal structure will change from a GBE to most likely a Public Company. This is because the government will offer shares to the public, therefore the public will be able to become shareholders and hold part ownership.
